In the USA there is also an employer tax break that could be considered an ebike or electric bicycle tax rebate of sorts. It can be found in Sec. 211, “Transportation fringe benefit to bicycle commuters," which is under the Transportation and Domestic Fuel Security Provision section in H.R. 1424. The $20 a month tax relief per employee commuting via bicycle or ebike is to help cover the cost of any employer reimbursement for reasonable expenses incurred by the employee “for the purchase of a bicycle and bicycle improvements, repair, and storage, (showers, lockers, and bike racks etc) if such bicycles are regularly used for travel between the employee’s residence and place of employment.”

Also, since you aren't pedalling hard (if at all...) and you're not really sweating, it isn't necessary to waste time having a shower when you arrive at work. That saves a lot of time...

... and so does the fact that electric bikes tend to be the quickest form of getting around in a city anyway. You can slip between traffic jams and maintain a constant 15mph -- at that kind of speed on a normal bike, its certain you'll arrive at work a sweaty state!
