World EV Speed Record

New World Record for Electric Vehicles Speed Set!

On September 25th 2009 a team of engineering students set a new world land speed record with an EV that they designed and built from the ground up called the Buckeye Bullet 2.  The streamlined vehicle is an all-electric hydrogen powered fuel cell vehicle that was created especially to break the land speed record at Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.  The EV completed the multi-leg course with an average speed of 303 mph (487 kph), which is now the speed record for any electric car.  The vehicle was propelled by a custom 700+ HP electric motor, which was fueled by hydrogen & oxygen fuel cells and required a parachute system to help it decelerate.
