The 2025 BYD Seal EV Will Arrive With Advanced LiDAR Technology, 800V Charging System, And A 404-Mile Range

BYD has upped the ante in the highly competitive midsize sedan market by officially launching its latest electric vehicle (EV), the 2025 Seal EV with a price of 175,800 yuan (around $24,500) in China.
The 2025 Seal EV presents itself as an enticing option for budget-conscious EV buyers. This new Seal EV is more than just a low-cost alternative as it packs a punch with upgraded performance, range, and advanced driver assistance capabilities.

Notably, the 2025 Seal EV is the first sedan EV to be built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo architecture, an enhanced version of the company’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) platform. This new platform delivers higher integration, more powerful powertrain performance, and faster charging.
One of the most noteworthy upgrades is the Seal EV’s adoption of an 800V high-voltage system, which enhances charging efficiency compared to the previous 400V platform. Buyers will be able to choose from four trim levels, with the top trims offering an estimated CLTC range of up to 650 km (404 miles).
However, the standout feature of the 2025 Seal EV is its integration of LiDAR technology, which is a first for a BYD model. The company’s in-house developed DiPilot 300 assisted driving system, which leverages the LiDAR sensor, promises point-to-point pilot-assisted driving on both highways and urban roads.

As for the Seal EV’s exterior design, it remains largely similar to the existing model with its distinctive X-shaped front end and sleek roofline. Although BYD has given the sedan a new look, swapping out the previous “Build Your Dreams” badge for a prominent BYD logo on the trunk. In terms of the interior, the 2025 Seal EV arrives with a new Coral Orange color scheme and a 15.6-inch rotating infotainment screen.
As BYD launches its latest 2025 Seal EV, the company’s progress in solidifying its position as a leader in the EV market is clear. With the addition of strategic actions including partnering with Uber to bring 100,000 new EVs across key global markets while recently announcing a record-breaking 342,383 new energy vehicles (NEVs) sold In July 2024, the company is reaching new heights.
With the combination of an attractive price point, advanced technology, and enhanced performance, the 2024 Seal EV becomes a compelling option for EV buyers while intensifying the competition in the broader Chinese EV market.
