The Denza N9 Will Be Constructed On BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, With An Anticipated Launch In China Later This Year

BYD’s Denza brand has officially unveiled images of its highly anticipated Denza N9 electric vehicle (EV), a full-size luxury electric SUV set to launch later this year.

The Denza N9, constructed on BYD’s advanced e-Platform 3.0, seamlessly combines imposing design with cutting-edge technology. With an impressive length of 5.3 meters, the Denza N9 firmly positions itself within the full-size SUV category.
According to the images released on Denza’s Weibo page, the exterior of the N9 features a striking Denza logo prominently displayed on a layered front face. It is equipped withvisible roof-mounted LiDAR for advanced driver assistance systems, flat, potentially digital side mirrors, and hidden door handles. The EV also sports stylish multi-spoke rims that enhance its commanding presence on the road.
As for the interior, the Denza N9 contains an advanced smart cockpit that enhances the driving experience. One notable feature is the onboard refrigerator, which offers both cooling and heating capabilities, adding a touch of luxury and convenience for passengers.
At the core of the Denza N9 is BYD’s innovative e3 “Yisanfang” three-electric-motor system. This system includes a front AC asynchronous motor producing 230 kW (308 hp), a rear left permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 240 kW (322 hp), and a rear right permanent magnet synchronous motor also rated at 240 kW.
Together, these components provide a total system output of nearly 1,000 hp. Additionally, the EV features dual-motor independent steering at the rear, enhancing maneuverability and overall driving dynamics.
Zhao Changjiang, Denza’s head of sales, confidently stated, “Denza N9 is a tech Super Gentleman,” emphasizing its advanced capabilities.
The Denza N9 is poised to compete with high-end electric SUVs such as the Li Auto L9 and the Aito M9. It will be available in both pure electric and plug-in hybrid variants, catering to a wide range of luxury EV buyers.
BYD’s strategy with the N9 appears to be creating a vehicle that, according to Zhao, “rivals would not be able to match within five years,” setting a high bar in the luxury EV segment.

The launch of the Denza N9 is a key component of BYD’s broader strategy to diversify its product range. Recent additions to their lineup include the Denza Z9 GT, which starts at RMB 334,800 (around $47,400).
The Denza brand currently offers a range of electric SUVs, including the N7, N8, and N9, with plans for new multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) and electric sedans already in development. Additionally, BYD is expanding into pickup trucks and electric supercars, indicating a commitment to a wide array of vehicle types.
BYD’s aggressive expansion strategy is bolstered by its impressive sales performance. The company achieved record sales of 419,426 vehicles last month, allowing it to surpass SAIC and become China’s largest automotive group. Looking ahead, BYD plans to launch eight new Denza models within the next three years, further strengthening its presence in the market.
As BYD continues to push the boundaries of EV technology and design, the Denza N9 stands as a testament to the company’s ambition to dominate not just the affordable EV market, but the luxury segment as well. With its impressive specifications and bold claims, the N9 is set to make a significant impact when it hits the market later this year.
