Peugeot To Unveil Long-Range e-3008 And e-5008 EVs At Paris Motor Show

Peugeot is gearing up to make a significant splash in the electric vehicle (EV) market by introducing long-range variants for its e-3008 and e-5008 SUVs. The company will unveil these EV models at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, scheduled from October 14 to 20, 2024.

Unprecedented Range

The star of the show will undoubtedly be the e-3008 Electric 230 Long Range, delivering an industry-leading WLTP range of 700 km (435 miles) on a single charge.

Its larger sibling, the e-5008 Electric 230 Long Range, is not far behind, offering up to 668 km (415 miles) of range. These figures position Peugeot at the forefront of electric SUV capabilities.

Technical Specifications

According to Peugeot, both models are powered by a 170 kW (230 horsepower) electric motor with a high-capacity 98 kWh battery. This new powertrain complements the existing 157 kW (210 horsepower) versions, which utilize a smaller 73 kWh battery.

The long-range variants support DC fast charging up to 160 kW, allowing for a 20% to 80% charge in just 27 minutes. Peugeot claims this translates to adding 150 km (93 miles) of range in only 10 minutes of charging.

French Engineering and Production

These new EVs showcase French technological prowess. Built on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, they feature battery cells produced by the ACC joint venture at its Douvrin factory in France. The vehicles themselves will be manufactured at Peugeot’s Sochaux plant.

Despite the larger battery capacity, Peugeot has managed to preserve interior space. The new battery is only 15 mm thicker than the standard version, thanks to the efficient “BEV-by-design” architecture of the STLA Medium platform.

Expected Pricing and Warranty

While pricing details have not been announced, the long-range models are expected to command a premium over their standard counterparts. For reference, the e-3008 210 currently starts at €48,650 (around $54,136) in Germany, with the e-5008 210 priced from €51,150 (around $56,924).

To instill confidence in potential buyers, Peugeot is offering its Allure Care program. This warranty covers the entire vehicle, including crucial EV components, for up to 8 years or 160,000 km (99,400 miles).

With these long-range models, Peugeot claims that the e-3008 can complete a Paris to Nice journey with only two charging stops underscores the practical benefits of these advancements.

With Peugeot’s latest offerings, it demonstrates that established automakers are rising to the challenge, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in electric mobility.
