With Up To 500 kW for Passenger Cars And 1.2 MW For The Tesla Semi, The New V4 Cabinet Offers Up To 30% Faster Charging For High-Voltage EVs

Tesla has unveiled the V4 Cabinet, a new upgrade to its Supercharger network that promises to deliver unprecedented charging speeds with the potential to charge electric vehicles (EVs) at up to 500 kW for passenger cars and an astonishing 1.2 MW for the Tesla Semi.

The V4 Cabinet represents a substantial leap forward from the previous V3 generation, which was limited to a maximum of 250 kW per stall. The new cabinet design supports vehicle battery packs ranging from 400V to 1,000V, unlocking the full charging potential of high-voltage EV architectures, such as those found in the Tesla Cybertruck.
According to Tesla, the V4 Cabinet can enable up to 30% faster charging speeds for the Cybertruck compared to the outgoing V3 technology. This translates to an even more seamless and efficient charging experience for owners of these next-generation EVs.
While the newer high-voltage vehicles will see the most significant performance gains, Tesla has assured that its existing Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X owners will continue to enjoy the familiar 250 kW charging speeds they’ve come to expect from the Supercharger network.
The V4 Cabinet’s advancements go beyond just raw power output. The company claims the new design features a smaller footprint and reduced complexity, allowing for more efficient deployments. Tesla states that the V4 Cabinet can power up to eight stalls simultaneously, doubling the capability of the previous generation.
Furthermore, the V4 Cabinet’s electronics have been engineered to be the “most reliable on the planet,” with a three-fold improvement in power density compared to the outgoing model. This enables higher throughput with lower operational costs, a critical factor in the continued expansion of the Supercharger network.
The first Supercharger sites featuring the V4 Cabinet are currently in the permitting process, and Tesla expects the initial openings to start in 2025. This timeline aligns with the anticipated arrival of more high-voltage EV models from both Tesla and its competitors.
With the Supercharger network’s ability to deliver unparalleled charging speeds along with the V4 Cabinet upgrade, it will undoubtedly remain a crucial competitive advantage for Tesla and its users.
