VinFast has officially begun deliveries of its flagship VF 9 electric SUV in the United States (U.S.), marking a pivotal moment for the company’s expansion into the competitive American electric vehicle (EV) market.

Competitive Pricing and Promotions

Priced starting at $69,800 for the Eco version and $73,800 for the Plus trim, the VF 9 represents a substantial price drop from its initial 2023 pricing, which previously stood at $83,000 for the base model and $91,000 for the higher-end version. In addition, VinFast is offering a promotional lease price of $529 per month for the first 100 vehicles delivered, including a $3,500 discount.

The VF 9 enters a growing segment of electric three-row SUVs. Measuring 201.5 inches long, the vehicle offers a spacious seven-passenger configuration with notable specifications. It features a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup producing 402 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque, with an EPA-estimated range of 330 miles for the Eco model and 291 miles for the Plus version.

Mike Nolte, VinFast’s Network Sales Vice President, expressed confidence in the vehicle stating, “We believe that the VF 9 will be the ideal vehicle for large families, delivering premium quality and a luxurious experience while maintaining excellent value.”

Advanced Features and Performance

The VF 9 is packed with impressive features designed to enhance performance, safety, and user experience. At its core is a powerful 123-kWh battery pack, offering robust energy capacity to support extended driving range. Complementing this is the convenience of Plug & Charge and Auto Charge capabilities. For those in a hurry, the SUV supports fast charging, allowing it to recharge from 10% to 70% in just 35 minutes.

Modern Interior and Safety Enhancements

For the interior, there is a 15.6-inch customizable touchscreen, providing an intuitive interface for navigation, entertainment, and vehicle controls. Safety is prioritized with 11 airbags, ensuring comprehensive protection for all passengers, and an enhanced driver-assistance system adds another layer of security with advanced technology features.

To top it all off, the SUV offers a warranty—covering 10 years or 125,000 miles—demonstrating the manufacturer’s confidence in the vehicle’s durability and reliability.

Initial Deliveries and Availability

The initial delivery event at VinFast’s Los Angeles headquarters saw the first nine vehicles handed over to customers, with broader distribution planned across 36 dealerships and 15 company-owned stores in California.

While the vehicle may be eligible for the federal EV tax credit when leased, VinFast has not provided definitive confirmation. The SUV is currently manufactured in Vietnam, which adds complexity to its tax credit status.

With VinFast’s VF 9 entry, it represents an ambitious attempt to establish itself in the competitive U.S. EV landscape. The success of the VF 9 will likely depend on its ability to deliver a reliable, high-quality electric SUV experience.
